Beginnings and endings, a cycle we are all familiar with. Whether it's the flowers on the table that lose their blooms or the psychedelic patterns that were trendy in the 70s and now no one can see anymore. The students of the Kunsthochschule Halle take the eighth edition of Neuwerk as an opportunity to analyze the process of becoming and passing away and to question its characteristics and symbols. "End-time mood? Certainly not!"

The 8th issue of Neuwerkes-Magazin für Designwisschenschaften focuses on reflections on becoming and passing away, new beginnings and farewells. The authors see these apparent opposites as a connected unity. The magazine also deals with beginnings and endings. These differences are seen as the origin of creativity and as an explanation for recurring trends.
The magazine is published annually and is intended as a platform for the German design sciences. The magazine is based at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. The content is developed by changing teams of students from the Master's degree program in Design Studies and designed by students from the Communication Design department. On a total of 212 pages, the magazine offers a journey full of stimulating and relevant topics.
For example, Professor Wowo Kraus presents a "Chanhell Coffin", which is intended to visualize the question of whether high-end brands would label all objects in order to exploit the most absurd products for commercial purposes. The "Chanhell Coffin" thus becomes a symbol for the purely commercial branding of luxury brands.
