Every year, the editorial team receives many beautifully designed Christmas and New Year cards and small gifts. These greetings are so great and lovingly made that we would like to give them a bigger stage. So here are the most beautiful Christmas and New Year cards that the Grafikmagazin editorial team received in 2022/2023.
Sophisticated typography, blind embossing and a fine paper that flatters the hands - the card alone would have thrilled us. However, the Denis Widmann design studio didn't miss the opportunity to add a mulled wine liqueur to the Christmas greeting, delicately sealed with sealing wax. What is really remarkable, however, is that everything here was made in-house and by hand.
A nice way to show what you can do and that you put your heart and soul into design tasks.
The ever popular scented tree also inspired j. x. Albrecht for a greeting card. The aroma 2023: Silence. Who wouldn't want that sometimes? You can hang the beautifully embossed tree above your desk as a reminder of your good intentions.
designgruppe koop wished us more heart - we don't take it personally. God knows this world could do with more heart. The big heart on the card therefore shows us in bright colors what is really important.
Zeichen & Wunder actually makes it into our selection of favorites every year. No wonder, because the Munich agency not only knows a lot about design, but at least as much about printing and production. This year, the card shimmers in purple-blue tones and soft gold. Is it screen printing? Probably. In any case, it's a small work of art.
As beautiful as it looks, this card has it all. Jan Schwochow specializes in infographics and has created a pop-up-style greeting card that shows how the increase in the earth's population relates to rising temperatures. A very aesthetic card on a very serious topic. Design can do that too - point out very unpleasant things in a very beautiful way.
KD1 recommends that we tread lightly in the year 2023. To ensure that this succeeds, the creative team invited various artists to design postcard motifs. The New Year's greetings can therefore look forward to a second life, as a savior in times of need when you're looking for a nice card because you've missed your colleague's birthday.
We received a cool letterpress card from Fokus Design in Salzburg. Of course, we are always happy to hear that we have been able to expand everyday design life with our magazine, but we are even happier when someone takes the trouble to write to us personally.
"Imagination, experimentation and openness to results are essential aspects of our work," writes Stan Hema. The map of the Berlin agency expresses this quite well. You have to look closely to pick out the 2023, but it's all in gold and silver in true style. So please.
The Christmas card from Ansichtssache also has a tradition, although you can't really call it a card. What kind of weight is it? None, obviously, because Sumo White from Favini is only stated in millimetres and that is a considerable 3 mm. Plus a bright screen print and an illustration by Florian Scharinger, the whole thing numbered and limited. Not particularly Christmassy either, but very nice.
We don't know where the designers at Kreatives get the energy to plan and implement such Christmas mailings, but the Munich studio has become almost notorious for its elaborate and humorous gifts. This year, Kreatives have revived the good old VHS cassette and sent out a beautiful notebook in an embossed and laminated envelope. It really is amazing.
Studio B.O.B. greets us a few sizes smaller, but no less great, with a die-cut letterpress card. A nice way to thank others for the good cooperation and to invite them to new projects.
The New Year cards from Paperkate, with their frayed edges, are almost a hairy affair. "Recover the Future", that's what we do.
And another letterpress card. Simple, red and white on velvety paper. What can you say about the card from etcorporate except Glooooooria!
The risograph print is always beautiful. Joseph & Sebastian use it to literally pop the corks. A great start to the year.
Julien Fincker's card is very rough but charming. Wooden letters were used here, the print of which makes each card unique.
Did we mention that we love greeting cards that contain greeting cards? Stober Medien, Printmedia-Solutions and gggrafik have developed a dot-rock album for the new year, a whole stack of beautifully designed and produced cards, colorful confetti included.
Instead of cards, you can of course also send small works of art. Oliver J. Stumpf designs small paper sculptures for the Christmas season that will amaze you. "Structure and lightness come together", he writes and wishes "to remain in motion, free in thought". How beautiful, long live haptics!
Another work of art reached us from Franziska Neubert. The illustrator and print artist sent us a wooden print in true style. A beautiful paper, a great print and a lot of craftsmanship, we are thrilled.
Of course, we received many more great cards and were delighted with every single one. Christmas and New Year cards and small gifts are a great way for designers to show what they can do and, above all, to convey their appreciation.
A big thank you to everyone who wrote to us. We are already looking forward to the creative ideas that will enrich our everyday lives next Christmas.
