The weather is nice, the swimming season is open, so it's the perfect time to exercise and do something for your health. But there are also many unusual design projects to discover around "Health & Fitness", which this issue of the graphics magazine is dedicated to.
Copyright and intellectual property are always an issue, especially in the creative sector, and we recently discovered that we had been ripped off. A provider of templates had obviously found one of our cover motifs to be good and had therefore adopted it one-to-one into its pool. When it comes to AI, the question also arises as to where the creative ideas come from, whose illustrations, photos and work have been used by the programs? Will these applications make designers superfluous or are they simply useful tools? And what exactly is AI anyway? We wanted to find out more, which is why we are launching a new focus topic in this issue that deals with artificial intelligence and specifically examines its impact on the design sector
Our photo section takes you to Berlin. Here, Andreas Gehrke has captured the magnificent architecture and special atmosphere of Tegel Airport in pictures. Manuel Lossau, on the other hand, is interested in the people who make Berlin so special. As a representative of street photography, he looks for beauty in the everyday and tells the stories of unusual and extraordinary people and the city of Berlin in his pictures.
Focus on "Health & Fitness"
New technologies can also open up new possibilities for treating diseases, as shown by the final project Nera, which aims to make it easier to deal with neurodermatitis. Remy&Remy relied on classic design craftsmanship and visually united two of Germany's largest heart centers. Functionality was the top priority for this branding, but the solution is also visually more than convincing. The Irish studio Together We Create demonstrates how design can help turn an unloved visit to the dentist into a pleasant experience, while an exhibition project from Peru documents the resilience of the indigenous Asháninka people. These and other works in our Grafik+ on the topic of "Health & Fitness" show how successfully design can also communicate content in the sports and health sector.
The cover
Spanish illustrator Pepe Serra has a knack for transforming even very complex content into charming visual motifs. With this cover motif, he has succeeded in depicting the topic of "Health & Fitness" beyond the usual clichés with a great deal of humor.
The paper we used for the cover also feels very healthy and natural. Olin Rough is a design paper from Antalis with a slightly rough surface and excellent printing properties. The cover was offset printed by F&W Medien.
The showroom
If you like the cover, you can discover more great works by illustrator Pepe Serra in the showroom. Print fans will get their money's worth at Studio Angi Reisinger, as the Innsbruck-based creatives continue to focus on craftsmanship and fine printed matter alongside digital applications. In Munich, the film festival has just started and has been given a new look to mark its anniversary, which we present in detail. Films are also a great source of inspiration for Yannick Nuss and his unusual design solutions. We travel to the home of great cinema, namely California, with Studio Mouthwash. Here, classic graphic design is mixed with digital applications.
