(Advertisement) It's all about the good things in life: "The Happy Zine" is a community project that aims to shed light on everything that makes us happy. ONLINEPRINTERS and Forward are holding an open call for submissions to participate in the creative publication in digital or analog form.
Can you still remember the unspeakable summer hit "Happy" by Pharrell Williams, which played on what felt like a continuous loop on all radio stations in 2013 and at some point was more annoying than happy? Well, regardless of whether you find the hit single successful or exhausting: Williams has made himself quite rich by addressing his happiness in music. And actually, we could all do with expressing our joy - especially after a disastrous year like last year.
Forward and ONLINEPRINTERS share this conviction: In the open call with the question "What makes you happy?", creatives are invited to submit their digital or analog artwork. What makes the jury itself happy will be selected and published in "The Happy Zine".
There are no limits to imagination and technique - whether drawn in pencil or illustrated on the computer. Only the format and color are fixed: the submissions should be in DIN A5 and black and white. "In order to tell stories of happiness or depict their own happy moments, applicants should concentrate on the essentials," explains the ONLINEPRINTERS jury.
In addition to the publication of their own work, all participants can look forward to a few treats: print vouchers from ONLINEPRINTERS worth 50 euros and livestream tickets for the Forward Festival Hamburg on July 1 and 2.
The only question that remains to be answered is: What makes you happy? Perhaps the thought of the upcoming summer, a long-awaited vacation? Time with relatives you've been missing? Or are you happy with the little things in everyday life? A particularly fine espresso during your lunch break, a walk with your dog or a scoop of pistachio ice cream? Your favorite song, which may even be "Happy" by Pharrell Williams for our sake?
The editorial team at ONLINEPRINTERS says it has a soft spot for cat content. We at Grafikmagazin can be made happy with beautiful books or chocolates - what about you? The artworks can be submitted between June 7 and 23 via the ONLINEPRINTERS entry form. You can also find the exact submission details here.
We are delighted with a project like this, which is all about community and happiness. And also about the different ways of presenting and expressing it. That's why we're excited to see what the result will be - by the way, you can pre-order the magazine free of charge from July 1 in the Forward online store.
