Plastic - one of the biggest scourges of our world. It is not only the environment that suffers from the consequences of plastic waves, our health can also be affected by plastic. To draw attention to the consequences of high plastic consumption, two students created the website "The invisible dangers of plastic made visible", which visually explains the connection between our health and plastic consumption.
"The invisible dangers of plastic made visible" is a project by Marlene Hilbig (design, illustration) and Lukas Meitz (programming) that depicts and visualizes the dangers of plastic in our bodies. The two students from Augsburg University of Applied Sciences designed an innovative website. It uses interactive graphics to explain how chemicals and tiny plastic items, known as microplastics, which are only visible under a microscope, enter our bodies and the damage they can cause.
If you keep scrolling, you learn how contact and ingestion with these hazardous substances can occur. The playful design of the website encourages users to rethink their plastic consumption. Marlene Hilbig and Lukas Meitz were supported by Prof. Dr. Wolfang Kowarschick and Prof. Michael Stoll.
The project was awarded the "Malofiej 29th International Infographics Award" in bronze for students. The prize is awarded annually by the Society for News Design (SND-E) and the University of Navarra.
