As the experience of people who migrate is heavily dependent on politics and the prevailing opinion of the population, Patricia Urbas wants to educate people about the background to flight and raise awareness of the issue in society. With her website Vanishing Point, she tells the stories of different people who had to leave their homes for various reasons or who acted as sea rescuers.

Patricia Urbas, a graduate of the Interactive Media Systems master's program at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, developed an interactive website that deals with the flight across the Mediterranean and the associated sea rescue. The project was supervised by professors Daniel Rothaug and Andreas Muxel.
The name Vanishing point was chosen deliberately, as it translates as "vanishing point". Standing alone, "vanishing" means "disappearance". The subtitle was also chosen with a deliberate ambiguity. On the one hand, "Perspectives" means "spatial perspective", on the other hand it also means "future perspective".
The web application tells the story of five individual people confronted with the topic. The stories come from three refugees from different countries and two volunteers from Germany. Users of the website can select a story. This opens an interactive map with an informative text, which they can use to follow the route of the escape or rescue mission. This results in an emotional and active engagement with the stories of the eyewitnesses. The aim is to educate and sensitize people and to inform them about the background of an escape.
