This enjoyed an explosive rise in popularity last year, which led to a rethink in the creative scene and has influenced working methods ever since.
The question of how to stand out and assert oneself individually has arisen time and again. As a result, current design trends feature various approaches to dealing with the perfectionist digital output of generative AI. "They [the 2024 graphic design trends] celebrate human creativity," emphasizes Llewellyn. This is why the trends listed include visual concepts that combine digitality and perfection with atmospheric color worlds and lively typography, such as "Future Fusion" and "3D Hyperrealism".
But there are also wild experiments in the opposite direction, with the trend of "digital destruction" with broken typography, pixel graphics and glitch effects deliberately juxtaposed with a contrasting program of AI. The illustrative approach of the "Freehand Revival" is similarly motivated, but implemented in a completely different way: imperfection is celebrated here in a harmonious, delicate and hand-drawn way.
Finally, the 10 selected graphic design trends offer an authentic overview of how the creative scene is developing in view of the circumstances. And no matter how conditions evolve, it is unmistakably clear how creativity will find a way to adapt and flourish in any circumstance.
