Catchy title, isn't it? But the contents of this little booklet are as simple as they are universal: a food photographer and a chef use aesthetic photos and inspiring recipes to remind us what a wonderful treat a plate of pasta can be.
Although communication designer and photographer Katharina Pflug is married to a talented chef, her first culinary influence came from her mother: "My mom always said that pasta makes you happy," she says. "I don't know why, but it's true. For me, there's hardly anything that comes close to a good plate of pasta. No matter how bad my mood is and no matter what sauce the pasta comes with - a good portion of good pasta makes you incomparably happy!"
So what could be more natural than to indulge her two passions - food photography and pasta - and put together an aesthetic cookbook together with her partner Manuel Kohler that pays tribute to both?
The duo were supported in the layout by Nuremberg-based studio ELLIJOT. In keeping with the motto "simple, but with a twist", both the cover and the inside pages with the recipes were lovingly realized. Only one page of the cover was printed with mineral oil-free Pantone ink, which - as you will immediately recognize - corresponds to the colour of golden yellow pasta dough, and laser die-cutting was also used. Elisabeth Weber from Studio ELLIJOT chose both organic inks and FSC-certified paper for the inner section in order to produce the book in the most resource-friendly way possible.
The upcoming Christmas season in particular, which will be characterized by a retreat into the private sphere rather than fun at the Christmas market, could be a great time to experiment with fresh pasta dough. You don't even need a pasta machine for the recipes in the book! Although chef Manuel Kohler admits that you need a little dexterity, this quickly comes with a bit of leisure: "Making pasta with your hands is a meditative, tactile and fragrant pleasure."
The book is distributed by Pfeffer & Frost, actually gingerbread producers, but what they have in common is their shared their shared hometown of Nuremberg and their love of fine cuisine.
