Artificial intelligence is changing our lives in many areas, and it is also creating a lot of dynamism in the art world. AI Art Magazine invites you to discover these new dimensions of creativity. What results does the combination of technological innovation and artistic expression produce? What tools do creatives work with? How does AI enrich their work and where is art heading? The AI Art Magazine provides a wealth of knowledge and inspiration in the form of a beautifully designed and lavishly produced print magazine.

"In the last two years, artificial intelligence has fundamentally changed the art world. New forms of creative expression are emerging at the interface between man and machine, redefining traditional concepts of art and conception. This symbiosis not only opens up new aesthetic possibilities, but also calls for a deeper examination of the role of humans in an increasingly digitalized world." This is how the initiators Mike Brauner (Co-founder polardots.studio) and Christoph Grünberger(The Age of Data) describe the background to their unusual project. With the AI Art Magazine they want to make creative processes and the intentions of artists visible, as well as shed light on the interface where art is created between man and machine.

As quickly as AI can produce results, the process of creating the AI Art Magazine was a lengthy one. Back in May 2024, the initiators distributed flyers at Offf in Barcelona to draw artists' attention to the project. "Then we created a zero issue to show the concept," explains Mike Brauner. "The cover was by Julia Hermine Ulmer and the inside of the magazine consisted of unprinted paper remnants - because we were still waiting for content from the community. We also used it at events such as Indiecon and we were then able to reach more artists worldwide via social media, especially via Instagram." From September, creatives were able to submit their work via an online platform and the first sample pages were created. The curation process then began in October and the jurors selected the artworks and were able to send one favorite to the final round with a Golden Ticket.

The jury consisted of Adriana Mora, Boris Eldagsen, David Carson, Grit Wolany, Götz Ulmer, Hannah Johnson, Ingo Faeks, Liri Argov, Sara Giusto, Vivien Schulze and the juryAI Xiaomi. Jan Wölfel, for example, who was also interviewed by Xiaomi about his design, won the golden ticket for the jury AI bot. Once a selection had been made, it was time to present the works in a magazine. The AI Art Magazine now presents a total of 50 artists, the 11 Golden Tickets with a commentary by the jurors as well as various articles on art, design, AI and machine learning.

Mike Brauner explains why they opted for a printed medium for AI of all things. "We opted for print for several reasons," he says. "We want to reach people who don't have access to digital art. Limited space also means that you have to make a selection and we found the contrast with digital exciting. The magazine is the archive of a specific point in time and haptics create value. And finally, simply because: we love print." The AI Art Magazine is now presented on 176 pages with different paper changes that create tension and give the digital art a tactile feel. An open thread stitching contrasts attractively with the smooth cover and its artificial appearance.

Anyone who has not yet had access to AI art will find a good introduction to the topic here. The works are inspiring and those who create with AI themselves will find plenty of inspiration in the magazine - both technically and artistically. The essays provide a theoretical superstructure and an outlook on the future. The AI Art Magazine is therefore a well-rounded publication that is both worth seeing and reading. And anyone who enjoyed it can already look forward to a sequel. The team around Mike Brauner and Christoph Grünberger is planning to publish two issues a year.
