Finding the right path—in a figurative sense, as in real life—is often not so easy. With a focus on "guidance systems," in this issue we show how design creates orientation and provide insight into a design field that is as challenging as it is diverse.
In addition to focusing on "guidance systems," this issue once again covers a wide range of communication solutions. Finland's largest daily newspaper, Helsingin Sanomat, for example, has revamped its entire look, opting for bold typography, while the German edition has been carefully but effectively modernized. As always, we have compiled a selection of remarkable print projects in our "Production & Publishing" section – from unusual books and cool giveaways to paper urns. In Grafikmagazin .25, we also continue our focus series on new business areas: it is both fascinating and encouraging to see the new business ideas that creative people come up with when they discover a need.

Graphics+ "Guidance systems"
Hardly any other area of design is as important and yet as invisible, because a good signage system usually doesn't stand out; it simply does its job. In this 20-page issue, we show what matters and how much creativity is still possible. From hospitals and soccer stadiums to kindergartens, student residences, schools, and office buildings—how orientation works is always determined by the needs of the users and the conditions on site. Beyond that, there are no limits to creativity, as the examples we present clearly show.

The cover
The cover motif for this issue was designed for us by the designer duo Craig & Karl. In their unmistakable signature style, the designers from New York and London have interpreted the theme of orientation with a wink, while at the same time making it clear that diversity always presents an opportunity.
We used high-quality Munken Polar design paper from Berberich Papier, which perfectly showcases the colors and contrasts of the motif. F&W Medien did the offset printing for us.

The showroom
In the showroom of graphic design magazine 06.25, Ingeborg Schindler told us about her new beginnings and revealed what made her successful as an illustrator. Armenian branding agency Backbone also had to overcome obstacles and is now one of the most successful agencies in its country. We will soon see a lot of sporting spirit when the Milano Cortina Olympics kick off – we were able to talk to the design director in advance about the "Look of the Games." And last but not least, we report on Craig & Karl, who weave design, art, and huge installations into a fascinating mix.
